Tips For Decorating With Antique Lamps

Whether you are redecorating your current house or moving into a new home, antique lamps can be a wonderful and unique addition to your decor. These old lamps have a certain charm and character that is lacking in modern lighting. no matter what time period or era a lamp is from, it is a little piece of history and each one has its own unique story to tell.

Decorating with antique lamps is both fun and fascinating. Depending upon your budget you can go all out and get top quality, highly collectible lamps from well known names like Tiffany, Handel or Aladdin. Or, if you are on a more limited budget you can find beautiful old lamps from lesser known designers for a fraction of the cost.

If you are shopping in the higher price range be sure to do your research before you buy. it is important to make sure that the lamp you are buying is truly an antique and not a reproduction or knock off. there are many website online and books that can help you to identify the genuine thing from imposters.

Sometimes people use antique lamps purely for decoration since they are no longer wired or aren’t even capable of using electricity. However, electric antique lamps can often be updated to today’s wiring and used just like a normal lamp or light fixture.

There are many different style of lighting that you can choose from ranging from antique floor and table lamps to sconces for your walls or even elaborate hanging fixtures. no matter what your decorating style, chances are you can find a beautiful lamp to match it and create a unique and welcoming feeling in your home.

Stamps and Coins – Collecting and Appraising Stamps and Coins

Before Beanie Babies – before baseball cards — before Barbies — there were stamps and coins. Stamps and coins still represent the largest collecting interest in the world. Everyone has seen, held and used stamps and coins, but not all of us, or our clients, know which stamps and coins are collectible and valuable. perhaps you have slipped a valuable silver quarter into a Coke machine or licked a rare stamp to send a letter to a friend. Knowing what to look for can keep those valuable items from being used for soda pop and postage.

The collectible values of both stamps and coins are based upon the economic law of supply and demand. as you know, supply is the number of stamps or coins available in the market. Demand is the desire to hold, have or own the stamp or coin. The greater the demand, the more valuable an item usually is. The fewer number of items available (less supply) the greater the value as well.

An appraiser or collector can easily identify the original supply of stamps and coins by researching the quantities produced in most coin and stamp references. For stamps use the Scott Stamp Catalogs — for coins, try Yeoman’s Red Book.

These references describe every U.S. coin and stamp issued, and list the quantity minted or printed. The quantities produced do not necessarily indicate the number available today. Stamps are routinely used and discarded. Coins are taken out of circulation as they become worn or lost through holes in pants pockets.

But quantity is not necessarily the most important factor in establishing value. it is the supply of desirable stamps and coins that create those rare headlines: Penny Worth Ten Thousand Dollars found in gum machine. The most desirable, and valuable, stamps and coins are usually scarce and in excellent condition

One-cent coins known as Indian-head pennies are great examples of supply and demand. They were minted in the U.S. from 1869-1909 and show the profile of a Native American princess on the front (most folks think it’s an Indian Chief). in 1876, approximately 8 million of these coins were minted. about 6 million were minted in 1878. but in 1877 less than one million pennies were minted. The 1877 pennies are valued at approximately 10 times more than coins in similar condition from 1876 or 1878.

The condition of coins and stamps is also an important factor. an 1877 Indian-head penny in uncirculated condition (really good shape) can be worth ten times more than an 1877 penny in good condition. Superb, uncirculated, 1877 Indian-head pennies can be found in coin shops selling for over $2,000.00 – (go get your own comps). A similar coin to search for is the 1909 Lincoln-head penny with the mint mark S under the date and the letters V.D.B. on the back under the wheat stalks. less than 500,000 1909S V.D.B. coins were minted compared to over 100 million other 1909 pennies. This coin was minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

The same supply and demand rules apply to postage stamps. Generally, unused stamps are more valuable than used stamps. Stamps in superb condition are usually more valuable than similar stamps in poor condition.

Stamp collectors look for stamps that are well-centered and have even, uniform margins. Stamps that are clean and free of tears are more valuable than their dirty, worn counterparts.

Just because a stamp or coin is old does not mean it is valuable. A coin from the Constantine Period of the Roman Empire, which is about 330-345 AD, is over 1,600 years old. it can be purchased from a reputable coin dealer for under $100.00. Although this Roman Empire coin is quite interesting they were sold by the barrel to dealers just a few years go.

A full sheet of commemorative stamps from the 1940′s is worth little more than the value of the postage. Dealers pay less than face-value. The sheet of stamps, are available in great quantities and there is little demand for them as a collectible or as postage. You’ll need a huge envelope to hold 39 cents worth of 3 cent stamps.

The good news is that there are probably hidden surprises in your clients’ drawers. (Not those drawers) before 1965 the U.S. mint produced coins containing a high percentage of silver. These dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars are worth approximately 4 times their denomination value, based on the silver content alone. Silver coins, in excellent condition, may be worth substantially more than those that are worn or damaged. if it’s a US dime, quarter, half dollar or silver dollar dated before 1965, you have a silver coin. After 1964 the United States went to copper clad coins.

Before you run off to buy, sell, or appraise stamps and coins, here are a few tips from the professionals:
Jules Topfer, NAC’s Stamp and Coin specialist researcher suggests: Don’t rush your research. Shop around. get more than one comparable — markets can vary greatly. Feel out the dealer’s knowledge before you draw a value conclusion. better yet, consult with other professional appraisers that specialize in the field.’

Leon Castner, ISA CAPP, Managing Partner at National Appraisal Consultants and a professional auctioneer adds: Some of these stamps and coins come from collections, while others are part of accumulations. There is a big difference between a collection and an accumulation.

A collection is an organized group of stamps or coins, with a specific collecting purpose or goal. Collections are usually well-cared for and properly sorted and stored in albums or appropriate containers. an accumulation is a batch of coins in a coffee can or a pile of stamps in one big envelope.

Since stamp and coin appraisals are incredible labor intensive, appraisers need to differentiate between accumulations and collections. that distinction alone can help you and your client establish orders of magnitude in the appraisal process and save you and your client hours of inspection and research time.

The contents of collections are almost always in better condition than the contents of an accumulation. So, generally speaking, the value of a collection is usually greater than an accumulation containing the same material.

As mentioned above, the primary reference for stamp identification is the Scott Catalog. These catalogs list all stamps by date of issue and country. The catalogs are quite large and contain and amazing amount of information. Each stamp is identified by a specific Scott number, which is unique to that stamp. There are catalogs for different countries.

The most common catalog for US stamps and US philatelic related items is the Scott Specialized Catalog. it includes first day covers, revenue stamps and many others philatelic ephemera.

If you are searching for values or prices you will most likely see that the stamps are identified by their Scott number.

Coins are best identified using Yeoman’s catalog of US coins, commonly known as the red book. Coins are commonly identified by their denomination, style and year. it is published by Whitman.

Prices and values can be found in variety of places. Dealers can provide you with their selling price, and may make offers on items, if they know the condition of the items they are buying. Remember, the amount a dealer offers for an item may not reflect the item’s value.

eBay is certainly one place to look for values and prices, but there are many other sources which should be considered. Search other on-line auction sources, as well as on-line catalog offering.

But remember, when you really need to know, find a qualified, independent, personal property appraiser.

The terms Scott, Scott’s, Scott Catalogue, and Scott Number are trademarks of Scott Publishing Company, Inc.

Options In Pursuing Post Secondary Education

Right after successfully completing secondary school, individuals pursue post secondary education to obtain degrees, learn a specific trade, or simply gain advanced knowledge about a particular topic of interest. Pursuing post secondary education is considered a milestone in anyone’s educational career since this level is optional and is already beyond the requirement as prescribed by the law.

Options in Pursuing Post Secondary Education

This level of education comes in a variety of flavors undertaken in a university, a college, or a special training institute. It covers a wide variety of specialized topics such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, history, literature, as well as the engineering and marine sciences. Specialized trainings taken after secondary school such as culinary arts, welding, interior design, and other vocational courses are also categorized under this level of education.

In colleges and universities, post secondary education is also referred to as tertiary education, while higher education is a broader term used to refer to academic programs encompassing both undergraduate and graduate courses. Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) academic degrees are typically conferred to individuals who successfully complete a tertiary education program. These programs usually last between four and five years. Engineering courses take at least five years to finish depending on individual performance. Programs in the pure sciences and the arts, on the other hand, are accomplished within a span of four years.

Entrance into the big universities can be very competitive and expensive. as an alternative, individuals finishing secondary school may opt to enroll in vocational institutes or trade schools offering specialized trainings to mold skilled workers. Training certificates are awarded to individuals who successfully complete such programs, which usually take from two to three years.

A major distinction between post secondary courses in universities or colleges and training institutes or vocational schools is the level, diversity, and amount of coursework undertaken by enrollees. in universities and colleges, formal training begins with an advanced general review of the basic sciences and basic communication skills collectively known as prerequisites necessary to advance towards the degree. Training institutes and vocational schools, on the other hand, take shorter time to finish since trainees are directly exposed to the necessary skills needed to be mastered.

Graduates of post secondary education programs are likely to land in better-paying jobs compared to those who just earned secondary school diplomas. while only a chosen few are able to hurdle the competitive entrance exams in prestigious universities, other individuals wanting to pursue higher education enroll in institutes where special trainings are offered.

Local family seeks cutting-edge tool for child’s autism: A $13,000 service dog

The first thing most people notice about Alex Wood is that he loves to run. He sprints almost everywhere and rarely stops to take a breath. although many 5-year-old boys like him are full of energy, Alex’s constant craving for movement is one of many signs of his autism.

The next thing people might notice about him are he is nonverbal, rarely makes eye contact and becomes easily frustrated by noises, movements and surroundings many people don’t even notice.

He was diagnosed at 18 months old with Classic Autism, also called severe autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder plagues one in 70 boys in the U.S.

While it has become a more common diagnosis in recent years, little is known about this strange disorder. Parents of children with autism, like Tamara and Jeremy Wood, are all too familiar with the mysterious nature of the disorder.

On the back of each of Alex’s parents’ vehicles are bumper stickers in the shape of puzzle pieces, symbols of the disorder they struggle to understand.

The puzzle piece is the symbol of autism created by the National Autistic Society. The organization described the puzzle piece displayed the puzzling condition that isolates people from normal human contact and therefore they do not “fit in.”

“We don’t know why he has it, what it is or how it will affect him,” Tamara said. “That’s why the symbol is a puzzle piece.”

In Alex’s short life, the Wood family already has invested in a variety of tools to help the family cope with the disorder. Jeremy and Tamara now are looking to a new and cutting edge form of treatment that could drastically change their daily lives — an autism service dog.

While every person diagnosed with autism faces unique challenges, 4 Paws for Ability is an organization based in Ohio that trains service dogs to help autistic children cope with some of the most common issues associated with their disability.

The website for 4 Paws explains the mission of the program is to provide companionship and unconditional love for a child in a way that also provides comfort in environments that are difficult for children with autism. because many autistic children easily experience sensory overload, the site reports many parents who have purchased service animals for their autistic children have seen their dogs bring a sense of calm to their kids previously unmatched by any other tools.

Tamara and Jeremy are currently working to save $13,000 to provide Alex with a service dog from the organization.

While several organizations train service dogs, Tamara said she chose 4 Paws for Ability because they were the first to train service animals for autism and the only ones to train dogs for search and rescue. Should Alex ever run out of sight, the dog would be trained to find him.

Until they receive a dog, the couple plans to continue to tackle Alex’s autism just as they have the past five years. also parents to Hunter, who is almost 2 years old, most would say their parenting experience is nothing short of hectic.

Alex rarely makes eye contact, prefers his parents not to touch him and does not respond to his own name.

He is fixated on his routines. without structure to his schedule, Tamara said things can get out of control quickly.

“He pinches himself. or us. He just gets really upset with that,” she said.

His schedule includes a bath every morning before he rides the bus to and from school. In the evenings, he eats food from one of four local restaurants but refuses to eat at home, Tamara said.

The family has worked tirelessly since Alex was born to create a safe environment.

“The way we look at the world with an autistic kid is completely different,” she said. “Even in the house we’re constantly on guard.”

She is careful to remove anything potentially hazardous from Alex’s environment, but his hazards are different from most 5-year-olds. In addition to his autism, Alex suffers from pica, an eating disorder in which he persistently consumes nonfood items. Tamara said he has been known to eat pencils, erasers, dirt, chalk, toothpaste, soap and lip balm.

“We not only have to hide the obvious things like cleaning products,” she said, “but also anything we think he might think is edible to him.”

While the family finally has most of their home made safe for Alex, leaving the house is a challenge, Tamara said.

“There’s so much we can’t control,” she said. “We’ve made our home completely childproof. even going to a family member’s house is difficult. There is no way anyone can truly think of every single hazard.”

The couple recalled Alex running through a family member’s house with a knife in his hand and on another occasion falling into the same pool three times at the home of an acquaintance.

“Not only does he have no sense of danger,” Jeremy said, “he breaks things, he gets into chemicals, he has no concept of consequences. He understands attention, but not if it’s good attention or bad attention.”

As he has gotten older, Tamara said the potential dangers to Alex have only gotten more serious. Once he got tall enough to open doors, the couple outfitted every door to the outside of the home with chain locks outside his reach.

“He likes to run,” Tamara said with a laugh, watching Alex sprint from room to room in their home. A serious look fell over her when she considered his passion for speed outside the walls of their home.

“We just want him to be safe,” she said. “Any parent wants their child to be safe. that looks a little bit different for us. He is always trying to get away from us, and we really worry about what would happen if we can’t get him back.”

The parents recalled two occasions their son was almost hit by a car. Tamara must always have one of his hands in hers, she said.

While they feel the service dog would provide Alex with a lot, the safety and peace of mind it would provide them as parents is the most important, Tamara said.

The dog would be tethered to Alex anytime they leave the house, Tamara said, and obeying the cues of parents, not Alex.

In addition to keeping Alex safe, the dog would give him some independence, Tamara said. she admits as much as she loves holding her son’s hand, she hopes to someday watch Alex from a distance, knowing his dog is keeping him from harm.

“We’re not labeling him by giving him a service dog, we are enabling him,” she said. “We are giving him some independence. I don’t want him to grow up holding my hand everywhere we go.”

Doctors are unsure if Alex will ever be verbal, but Tamara has hopes the dog will help him connect with other people.

“He doesn’t have any friends,” she said. “He doesn’t go to birthday parties. He doesn’t go over to other kid’s houses. The only thing he has ever paid a bit of attention to is animals.”

To get to their $13,000 goal that will allow them to purchase a dog for Alex, Tamara and Jeremy are participating in a fundraiser with an organization called Charity Getaway Fundraising. Tamara is looking for a group of at least 100 people locally to agree to help her sell a total of 2,000 raffle tickets for a cruise to help her reach her goal.

If your organization would like to help Tamara meet her goal, email her at tamaralynae@hotmail.com.

How to Get Pet Stains Out of Carpet

Pet stains on your carpet can make even the most meticulous of housekeepers embarrassed to have company into their home. These stains are often very visibly noticeable and the accompanying smells can often times be overwhelming. Pet stains can be removed from carpeting; however, it can often times be quite expensive to have it professionally done and home remedies often do not work.

Some over the counter cleaners can work to remove the pet stain on top of the carpeting. the problem with pet stains, however, is the fact that the urine soaks down into the backing. when urine dries in the carpet it crystallizes. it is these urine crystals that are then nearly impossible to flush out or soak up. These urine crystals can stay present in the carpet for literally years before breaking down naturally. In this time, the urine crystals provide a breeding ground for bacteria to use it as a food source.

There are many home remedies to get rid of pet stains and odors. many of these involve some form of vinegar solution. These are not effective because vinegar is an acid and so are the urine crystals. you cannot neutralize an acid with another acid. many of the over-the-counter odor control products are merely heavy fragrances that try to mask the odor until it goes away naturally.

To effectively remove pet stains and odors from carpet is usually necessary to call in a professional carpet cleaner. Professional carpet cleaners will be able to flush the areas of the stains with extremely hot water to remove what urine crystals they can. They will then apply specialty solutions that will work to break down the crystals. Often times these solutions must stay wet for 24 to 48 hours to completely remove the urine crystals. Often times, this can be an expensive proposition; however, it is generally much cheaper than having to replace the carpet.

What I Take Out of the Business

Paul DownsShawn Lubeski sands the underside of a table top.

Scene from a cocktail party: “Hi, I’m Paul Downs. Very pleased to meet you. how much money did you make last year?”

Sorry, that didn’t actually happen. We’ve all agreed that asking about personal income is rude and that answering such a question would be foolish and unnecessary. But it’s hard to have a meaningful discussion about business without at some point talking about profits.

In my last four posts, I have discussed the various ways I spend money in my business in order to provide some background for this post, which is about the money that is left over, the profit. Yes, I am going to tell you how much I took home from my business. I am offering this information in the same spirit I’ve revealed the rest of the numbers: as a benchmark, a point of reference, that perhaps you can use to evaluate your own business, or your own situation if you are thinking of starting a business. and of course, I appreciate all of the suggestions readers have made about my business.

Let’s start with my salary. in 2002, when I sold half of my business to The Partner, I was taking a salary from the company of $72,000 per year. in the 17 years I had been in business up to that point, I had tried every possible method of paying myself and found that only by putting myself on the payroll would I actually take money out of the business. Waiting around for profits to happen had proved futile — there weren’t any. Paying myself a commission on the sales I made didn’t work either; it was always too tempting to leave the cash in the business to cover a shortfall.

When I decided to pay myself every two weeks, just like the employees, I actually wrote the checks and took the money. in the rosy early days of our partnership, The Partner and I agreed that I would not give myself any further raises, but that we would split any profits. that wasn’t an unreasonable agreement. He was taking no salary at all, and that arrangement gave me plenty of incentive to make the business grow so that there would be profits to share.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. not only did we not make profits, I ended up lending substantial money back to the company every year to cover cash shortfalls — and so did The Partner. Until August 2008, we contributed equally when cash was short. between 2003 and 2009 I loaned the company $508,774 and paid myself back $121,676, leaving a debt of $387,098 from the company to me. and as the years rolled on, my salary stayed at $72,000 a year. Eventually, in 2007, I got The Partner to agree to raise it to $80,000 to help me cover the rising cost of taxes on my health policy. During those years, my wife and I got used to a modest lifestyle: thrift shop clothes, public schools, driving vacations to visit family, no new cars. Which was fine, and stood us in good stead when things got tougher.

In November 2008, things fell apart. I cut my employees’ salaries by 15 percent and my own by 25 percent, to $60,000 a year. The following year we continued to struggle, and I needed to put money in to pay for a new Web site. I made what turned out to be my last loan to the company in August 2009, for $24,000.

The company’s recovery began in the spring of 2010. I had restored half of my employee’s pay cuts in September 2009, and I raised my own salary back up to a rate of $70,000 a year the following April, when our cash position began to recover. my goal that year was to amass working capital, as we had started the year with enough to operate for just three days. by the end of the year, I was making payroll without much effort, and we had more than $100,000 of cash on hand. The company’s bank balance on the first day of 2011 was $106,777.

In fact, the company made a profit of $92,155 in 2010. Our corporate bylaws require me to distribute a percentage of our profits equal to the highest federal personal tax rate plus an additional 2 percent. in 2010 that was 38 percent. I made the distribution in April 2011.

This would be a good time to talk about who owns the company. It’s an S Corporation. back at the very beginning, in 1986, I owned it all (not that there was much of anything to own). in 1992 I got my father and brother to put up $40,000 in exchange for 20 percent of the stock, which was a pity investment on their part. (I used the money to print up our first brochures and buy ads in a local magazine).

Nothing changed until 2002, when The Partner structured a deal in which he bought half my stock, and gave my father and brother non-voting shares. so now I owned 42 percent. in 2007, The Partner and I agreed to issue some more shares, which would be given to his daughter in exchange for reduced pay for her services in writing our custom database (which we still use, and is essential to our operations). After that I owned 40 percent. in 2010, my father and brother bought out The Partner. this deal did not affect my ownership stake, but it did leave me with three partners. my father and brother have clearly expressed their desire that I run the company as I see fit, for my own benefit. They leave all decisions about money to me. I have had no communication with my partner’s daughter since late in 2009, other than to send her a check in 2011 for her share of the 2010 profits.

As 2011 started, I was paying myself at a rate of $70,000 a year. That’s not terrible pay by American standards — above both average and median household income — but it’s small compensation for the stress of being the boss, and it leaves aside entirely the question of return on the money I have put into the business. Also, I found it shameful. There’s an unspoken assumption that someone like me should be doing well, considering my education and work history. in my whole circle of male acquaintances, I had only one friend who I thought might make less money than I did. plus, much of my identity was wrapped up in making the company a success. so I took great satisfaction when the company had money in the bank, and was so traumatized by years of running the company on a shoestring that it made me nervous to pay out funds, even to myself. even in the winter of 2011, when the company started amassing cash, I kept my salary unchanged.

Then, in March 2011, I read “Profits Aren’t Everything, They’re the Only Thing” by George Cloutier. There’s some questionable advice in the book, but one thing he said rang true to me: pay yourself first. by that he meant, figure out how much profit you want to take from the business, take it out regularly, and cut costs to make the numbers work. Be brutal if you have to: cut wages, fire people, but learn to run a profitable company.

Keep in mind that at this point (and to this day) I was sharing our cash position with my employees in our weekly meeting. I could see that we were going to start to build up a cash reserve, and that I would be under pressure to give it out as either raises or bonuses. I decided that the first thing to do was to raise my own pay to a more appropriate level and see whether the company would still continue to amass cash. in April 2011, I raised my salary to a rate of $140,000 a year, about 1.8 times the next highest paid employee. Sure enough, this flattened the net cash curve, but for the first time this century, I was able to save a good portion of my salary.

In the summer and fall of 2011, our net cash curve stayed essentially flat. my increased pay didn’t have a negative impact, but it did slow the the rise in our cash reserves. Then, last October, I sold a very large job that promised a rich payout if we increased our production and didn’t make mistakes. The catch was that we had to finance it, which would mean diminished cash for the rest of the fall with a big bump at the end of the year. I explained all of this to the employees, and dangled the promise of bonuses for everyone if we could pull it off.

Which we did. The guys performed like heroes, the client was delighted, and the money arrived just after Christmas. as I entered the last week of 2011, I had more than $300,000 in cash on hand, plenty of work lined up for the coming year, and a dilemma: who gets the money? clearly the workers would get their bonuses, but how much should I pay them? and when I was done with that, would I distribute the rest as profits and share it with my partners, or would I pay it to myself in a bonus?

The advantage of distributing profits is that the company doesn’t have to pay its share of payroll taxes on the amount distributed (this, at least, is my understanding — feel free to correct me in the comments section if I am wrong). The disadvantage to distributing profits, for me, is that I have to share that money with my partners. For each dollar of profit, which gets split among the four partners, I see only 40 cents. if I paid the cash to myself as a bonus, including it in my salary, it would be more expensive for the company but I would get 100 cents per dollar. (All of this is before paying taxes.)

I discussed the situation with my father and brother, who again told me to do what I wanted. They had no problem with my paying myself all of the potential profit in a bonus and letting the company break even or show a small loss. I did not consult the other partner. my father, brother, and I own all of the voting stock.

There was one reason to let the company show a profit. I would like to land a General Services Administration contract so that we become a preferred partner with the federal government, and part of the evaluation process is for me to show that the company has been profitable and is stable financially. we showed a small loss in 2009 (like a lot of people) and a decent profit in 2010. so I decided, in the end, to pay bonuses that would leave a profit roughly equal to the previous year’s.

That meant a bonus pool, for myself and the employees, of $120,500. The bonuses would be paid out in a special payroll the last week of the year, and they would be distributed, as usual, through Paychex. that way all of the appropriate taxes would be paid correctly.

So I had to make a calculation: who deserves what? how much do I deserve for my performance in 2011 and for my past sacrifices? and how much do my employees deserve? in the end, I paid myself a bonus of $72,000 and distributed the remainder, $47,500, to the workers. their bonuses amounted to about 7 percent of their pay.

On my W-2 for the year, I ended up with $208,652 in salary. The company ended up with a profit of $94,933. my share of the profit will be $37,973 — leaving me with a total pay out for 2011 of $246,626. it is an amount of money that I hope will, after I pay the taxes (which will probably amount to $90,000 or so), allow me to continue my modest lifestyle and pay for my children’s educations. I’ll be doing that out of current income, not savings, as I don’t have much put away. my eldest son was just accepted by M.I.T., and my wife is currently in graduate school. (No fancy cars in my future!)

My goal for this year, if the company grosses $2.4 million, is to take home $250,000 or more. At the beginning of the year, I raised my salary to $180,000. if I can land that G.S.A. contract, I will shift more profits to bonuses. Once the company has a backstop of $200,000 in cash, I’ll start paying back debt.

So there you have it. my income, published in the New York Times. I honestly haven’t decided whether it’s a great result, or a crummy one, or somewhere in the middle. But I hope that you find it useful, particularly if you are thinking of leaving a corporate job to start your own business. it took me more than 25 years to get this result. It’s possible that I could have gotten there sooner, but it didn’t happen.

Does anyone else want to talk about how much their businesses gross and how much they take home?

Updated there is a followup to this post.

Hyundai dealership wants tax incentive to move to former Saturn store site

NORMAL — the Extreme Motors Hyundai dealership could be movingto the former Saturn dealership site on Greenbriar Drive inNormal.

The move would allow Extreme Motors owner Dan O’Brien to createa stand-alone Kia dealership on Morrissey Drive in Bloomington. Currently, Hyundai and Kia share the Morrissey Drive site and arepart of a 12-acre site that includes Extreme Motors’ stand-aloneNissan dealership.

O’Brien said the deal hinges on a proposed sales tax sharingagreement that will be considered by the Normal City Council onMonday night.  the pact would give half of the 1 percent sales taxback to O’Brien for 48 months, or a maximum of $600,000, whichevercomes first.

Under the terms of the agreement, O’Brien would be required tostay at the Greenbriar Drive site for at least seven years. If hedoesn’t, he would be required to pay back whatever money hereceived through the pact.

O’Brien said the venture is based “on the success of Hyundai andKia. they are at a point in their tenure that they can hopefullystand in their own facility.”

More space means O’Brien would be able to bring more Hyundai andKia options to the Twin Cities, he said, and hopefully addHyundai’s full-sized, luxury sedan, Equus, to the mix.

“You have to qualify for it,” O’Brien said of the Equus, addingone of the requirements is a standalone Hyundai dealership.

If Normal approves the agreement, O’Brien said he would like tomove into the Greenbriar site by August — preferably sooner. Theinterior needs to be remodeled and maintenance equipment installedbefore the move.

The Morrissey Drive site also would undergo an extensive remodelto be the standalone site for Kia, O’Brien said.

O’Brien said a move to the Normal site would “give us exposureat that end” of the Twin Cities. “It would be a benefit foreveryone, the town and us,” he said.

City Manager mark Peterson agreed.

“That facility has been vacant almost three years.  It’s a primelocation,” Peterson said of the 3-acre Greenbriar site.

O’Brien said besides expanding the two dealerships, he alsowould be expanding his staff from the current 50 to between 70 and75.

Will our plugged-in planet have a green or black future?

Chances are the Internet has changed something about your life. how you shop. how you stay in touch with school buddies or look for a job.But has it made you greener? and will using the Internet more change your wear and tear on the planet? The short answer is that the Internet could save energy, if not necessarily Mother Earth. The more interesting answer comes in a longer conversation short on absolutes and peppered with unintended consequences.in Kansas City, perhaps as much as anywhere in America, that discussion could become ever more profound. If Google Inc. succeeds with plans to blanket the market in lightning-fast Internet hookups — its service will make its debut in some neighborhoods this year — the change could be transformational. We’ll have access at home to Internet fast enough to download the city library’s entire collection every minute. Speeds like that, Google hopes, will mean that we use the Internet more and in so-far-unimagined ways. some of that use could help us cut back on energy consumption, though some will surely add to our demand. The results will vary and often defy calculation.“We don’t see the Internet as some silver bullet, but it will help cut energy use,” said Rob Atkinson, the executive director of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation. “it can make a difference. It’s just not always clear in what ways.”Let’s imagine you’ve got an office job. you drive 10 miles to work and 10 miles back. Now let’s outfit your house with Google’s promise of 1-gigabit-per-second Internet speed — bandwidth to burn.Suddenly you tap not only into email but also your employer’s electronic nerve center. with a far faster Internet, you can have constant high-definition live video feeds with a dozen co-workers constantly. Crystal clear audio and video without a hint of delay. We’ve just eliminated all that gasoline burned on your daily commute. But wait. You’re going to have the furnace or air conditioner in your home running more during the day. Your lights will be on. Unless your company has loads of teleworkers, there’s probably no energy savings at the office from having you at home. Instead of stopping at the gym on your way to work in the morning and the grocery on your way home, you make special trips. still on average, at least one study suggests, only 15 percent of the energy savings we make from eliminating your drive is wiped out by the new household energy costs.Complex calculationsThe potential factors that affect how much energy the Internet will save can feel endless, fed into the part-art, part-science craft of calculating carbon life cycle assessments. our calculations shift depending how far out in the suburbs you live and whether you drive a Suburban or a scooter, or hop onto a bus.“There’s no ready answer,” said Kirk Cameron, a computer scientist at Virginia Tech University. “it ultimately depends on how you use the tools.”what the early research shows often challenges conventional wisdom and offers clues to how an increasingly complex society needs to juggle often conflicting and confounding do-good intentions.Various studies suggest that online shopping — while certainly bad news for the local mom-and-pop store — can cut carbon emissions. But the results depend on how much online shopping comparisons might replace driving to several stores, whether a shopper’s car trip includes multiple or single purchases on an outing, and how close the shopper lives to stores.“so often when you get into these discussions, there’s so many times you say, ‘it depends if …’” said Jennifer Mankoff, a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University.in 2008, she published the article “some Computer Science Issues in Creating a Sustainable World” about the changes driven by computers and the Internet. On one hand, Mankoff acknowledged the ways digital technology could be a powerful tool toward energy efficiency. One group of climate scientists estimated in 2008 that by substituting real-world energy choices with virtual activity, the Internet could cut global greenhouse emissions 15 percent by 2020.Mankoff warned, though, that the way the digital age cranks up electronics for constant data swapping threatens that calculus. Computers, smartphones, iPods, Kindles and the rest of the fast-growing array of gadgets pose their own environmental cost. They suck down electricity — albeit with improving efficiency — almost without pause. Their manufacture requires significant energy. and they are made of a sometimes toxic brew of chemicals and rare metals.already the information technology industry accounts for about 2 percent of the planet’s carbon emissions. Much of that is consumed in cloud computing, online data storage and processing. that rivals the emissions of worldwide air travel.Power drainLook at online games that allow a computer mouse or Xbox controller to steer avatars in hunts for virtual bad guys or to collect powers for pretend wizards. with Google Fiber connections, Kansas City could become game player heaven. Kansas Citians will have connections far faster than their competitors. any latency between your thumbs and your characters’ movements will all but disappear.that, though, takes electricity. a computer can consume almost double the normal electricity during such games, even as a remote server in some distant data center is gobbling down watts at roughly the same rate. in just a few hours of game playing, you can exceed the daily per capita electrical consumption for half the countries in the world.“It’s not zero. everything you do has an impact,” said Neal Elliott of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.yet those humming cloud computing servers that allow the dwarf controlled by a guy in Connecticut to flirt with the princess controlled by a guy in Nevada also feel the tug of a powerful economic force. Whether it’s Combat Arms or World of Warcraft, Amazon or Google, the companies that operate data centers face strong incentives to save energy. Electricity ranks at or near the top of the costs for running the cloud. What’s more, Elliott sees that cloud as a critical tool for lowering our costs of running a bricks-and-mortar world. Technology exists today with the promise of bringing Jetsons-age smarts to a system that could determine what we produce, where we make it and when we need it.Imagine a significant number of people in Kansas City with Internet-tethered monitors in their refrigerators and tiny radio chips on milk, butter and cheese packages. Those refrigerators could feed data to regional dairies. Those dairies, in turn, could far better anticipate demand. that could signal whether to send delivery trucks to groceries in Brookside or Strawberry Hill and what best to stock in them. it might even offer clues about when to vary the diets of milking cows.Food exceeds all other sectors for consuming energy. and spoilage, whether in the supply chain or your kitchen, wastes 40 percent.“you could have just the right amount of food showing up in just the right place at just the right time,” Elliott said.Consider a much-networked system wired over the Internet into a community’s thermostats. it could do more than rest home furnaces during the workday. it might factor in real-time weather forecasts.Better yet, it could match those needs with demands of the power grid, coordinating hundreds of thousands of houses so a utility could minimize peak power demands — a difference that might mean less power drawn from coal-burning plants and more taken from wind farms.Whether it’s telecommuting or thermostat crowd sourcing, some see the changes as inevitable. “Whether it happens now or happens in 20 years, it’s going to happen because oil will just become too expensive,” said Matt Bauer, president and co-founder of BetterWorld Telecom, an Internet and phone service provider marketed as socially responsible. We’re dematerializingWe’ve already made wide use of the Internet in ways that save resources, more out of convenience than ecological frugality. But the savings are there just the same. Consider how we watch movies at home. Not long ago, we’d drive to a video store to rent a box made of plastic and magnetic tape, a commodity that had been shipped long distances.Today we can tell our PlayStation to stream us a movie, a process consuming a fraction of the energy it took to put that please-rewind cassette into the old VCR.Or picture the beloved book, with its demand for wood pulp, ink and shipping. “War and Peace” now fits instantly in your e-reader without the harvest of so much as a twig. (Your Kindle gains, estimated one scientist, a billionth of a billionth of a gram from the added electrons of Tolstoy’s tome. an e-book’s carbon footprint is likewise far less than the real thing.)That so-called dematerialization — replacing something actual with something virtual — transformed the way we buy music (see iTunes), pay bills (see online banking) and get our news (you can subscribe to a digital replica of this newspaper online). The Internet increasingly could replace not just the stuff we buy but the stuff we do with less environmental impact. If instead of attending a convention in New York we participate by videoconference, we eliminate the equivalent of 100 20-mile commutes to work. Regional officials of the Sierra Club now routinely teleconference rather than drive to a central location. Stephanie Cole, a spokeswoman for the Kansas chapter of the organization, said the meetings aren’t quite as good as being in the same room.“But it’s good enough,” she said. “We can still accomplish what we need to.”that same technology can also provide a fuzzier swap. with gigabit-speed Internet, it will become quickly practical to have a constant high-definition video feed from one place to another. think of a working parent with a 10-year-old and a virtual window on the family living room, keeping tabs on the child in those latchkey after-school hours. The utility of such a setup is hard to miss, but so is the added electrical use of powering the computers, monitors and cameras.“It’s like building extra lanes on the freeway,” said David Fridley, a staff energy scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. “More people are going to get on the road.”that added Internet capacity will put new pressure on people to be mindful of what they use. at the Metropolitan Energy Center in Kansas City, executive director Bob Housh said people need to make sure their electronics don’t use so much wasted energy. Your cable box, for instance, is consuming nearly as much energy when you’re not watching TV as when you’re tuned into a ball game. only by unplugging a gadget, or shutting down the surge protector you might have it connected to, can you stop the meter.“it takes a conscious effort,” he said.Ultimately, new ways will arise to get the most out of virtual existence. some scientists at Microsoft Research, for instance, recently wrote a paper suggesting that data servers could do double duty. Today it costs nearly as much to cool down the football-field-size buildings that host much of the computer cloud as it does to power the racks upon racks of servers. The researchers suggested that the servers could be connected with fiberoptic lines — the same technology Google is set to bring to Kansas City — and dispersed among homes. then the heat they generate could supplement home heating systems. Such “data furnaces” would cut the cloud’s overall energy needs by more than half, even in toasty places such as Houston.Georgia Institute of Technology computer scientist Vytautas Valancius was co-author of another study that said splitting data centers into a dispersed network might save energy in other ways. His work also was a recognition that our collective Internet light bill needs minding.“We have to look for ways to save energy,” he said, “because we’re using so much of it.”

Michael Bay Signs Two-Picture Deal with Paramount Including ‘Transformers 4′

Was there ever a question that we’d get another Transformers? Even though there was a question of whether or not Michael Bay could be lured back, when a film makes over $1 billion at the world wide box office, the famed director probably could have named his price to make another. Well he came to an agreement and Paramount announced Monday  that Bay has signed a two-picture deal with them, one of which is Transformers 4 and the other is Pain and Gain starring mark Wahlberg (Contraband) and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). The latter film is first in the production line and is based on a true story about “a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida.”

Once Pain and Gain is complete, production on Transformers 4 will begin and is penciled in for a June 29, 2014 release date. The biggest questions is who will return with Bay. So far producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto and Ian Bryce and executive producers Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and mark Vahradian are on board. With the main production crew intact, I wouldn’t expect a change in tone or in quality. again, the billion dollar box office shows that the formula isn’t flawed. Transformers 4 is likely to be another marathon of eye candy and pectoral flex of visual effects house, Industrial Light and Magic.

Now, will Shia LaBeouf come back as Sam Witwicky? Will Bay parade another hot model of the moment as the love interest? more importantly, Transfans can begin their speculation over which characters will make the jump from the cartoons to the big screen. We’ve seen Devastator, Shockwave, who could be next? The Predacons? The Insecticons? Dinobots?

Who do you want to see?

Motorcycle Dealers

Love them or hate them we need them.

A motorcycle dealer is a person chosen by the motorcycle manufacturer to sell their motorcycles. He is thus a company authorised person to sell motorcycles on their behalf.

The most common requirement to become a motorcycle dealer are availability of substantial capital to invest, experience in dealing with motorcycles, availability of a commercial space, and also the readiness to provide excellent after sales support to the customers.

The priorities of a retail motorcycle dealer are generally the same as for any other retailer.

The company pays the dealer a fixed percentage on every sale made, and that is the basic way in which a motorcycle dealer, or any dealer for that matter, makes money. although low in percentage terms, the dealers margin is quite high when the actual selling price of a motorcycle is taken into account.

Depending on the company, the company may also invest in the set up, or may agree upon either a revenue sharing, or a fixed plus revenue sharing arrangement with a motorcycle dealer. however, the company will certainly provide motorcycle dealers with all training assistance. While there is no doubt that there are great opportunities to become a motorcycle dealer, it is a profession that requires tremendous hard work, dedication an discipline on the part of the motorcycle dealer.

It is only when the motorcycle dealer performs his sales and after sales functions effectively that the motorcycle gets sold.

Motorcycle dealers offer a comprehensive range of new and used motorcycles, parts, service and accessories.

Dealerships need to get a grip on the fact that a lot of women are buying motorcycles.

My local Kawa dealer is a tiny place, but the people there have been really helpful when I’ve needed to order parts. We visited a lot of dealers when we were looking for bikes, but I’ve found that our smaller, local shops are the best.

Two is a company – Dark Fronted Bablers

The Dark-fronted Babbler (Rhopocichla atriceps) is an Old World babbler found in the Western Ghats of India and the forests of Sri Lanka. They are tiny chestnut brown birds with a dark black cap, a whitish underside and pale yellow iris. They forage in flocks in the undergrowth of forests constantly making calls and uttering alarm calls when disturbed.

The Dark-fronted Babbler measures 13 cm including its square-tipped tail. It is brown above and white below. These babblers have a weak flight and are residents within their range. the forage in parties and clamber up vegetation and when disturbed, they tend to drop from the topmost perches of the bush into the undergrowth. the typical habitat is undergrowth in forest or on the edge of forests in more open growth. their food is mainly insects. They can be difficult to observe in the dense vegetation they prefer, but like other babblers, these are noisy birds, and their characteristic rattling churr alarm calls are often the best indication that these birds are present. They often join mixed-species foraging flocks.the breeding season is May to July. this babbler builds its nest low down in a bush, the nest being a ball of leaves, often of bamboo. the nest looks like some dry leaves stuck in a bush with the opening is on the side. the normal clutch is two eggs. They are also said to construct dormitory nests within which birds may sometimes roost.

Rubber Wristbands – Where You Should Buy Them From

Many people wear wristbands for a wide range of reasons. while the most popular of these reasons is for charity you will find that sometimes the reason is entirely personal in nature. to help people in choosing a wristband, various manufactures have produced different types of these wristbands. Rubber wristbands customers will have many different suppliers ranging from UK based companies to that of other companies the world over. each of these companies should normally be able to provide you with fast and reliable service.

Most companies are quite reliable and you can depend on quality service. if you are unsure of this however, you might want to look around a little more before going with a company that you can trust. This however should not deter you from looking into the products which you can buy. if you are still unsure you can make inquires from people you know and find out where they bought their wristbands from. Alternatively you can see about choosing to buy your wristbands from retail stores. The various rubber wristbands retail stores will sell you are of the same quality as those that you can buy from the internet.

As these retail stores are not as numerous as the online ones you may not have a great range of wristbands to choose from. For charity wristbands this will not prove to be too great a problem, but for other wristbands types however you might want to think about buying your wristbands from an internet based UK retailer. The different wristbands customers can choose from will include bands which have messages on them, bands without any messages, bands with images, and glow in the dark wristbands to name a few.

Sometimes you will find suppliers of wristbands who have wristbands with three- dimensional message, images or both. There are also some rubber wristbands which are created out of linked pieces. these types of wristbands are as popular as the normal ones you see everyday. The message which these wristbands display however will be more likely to stay in the minds of people as the design of the wristband is unusual. For this reason when you are thinking about choosing one of the many wristbands companies can supply you with it is best to decide on these choices well in advance of time.

This prior decision making will allow you to see all the different types of wristbands available in the market today. By comparing these products you can assure yourself that you are giving yourself the chance to buy only the items that fulfill your requirements. of course when looking to buy rubber wristbands customers will also need to be aware of the different ways that messages and images are placed on these bands.

The main methods which are used to get your message across are embossing, debossing, screen printing, color-filling, and interestingly enough, glow in the dark, which uses chemicals to provide the night glow on the message of the wristband. All of these methods are available for customers of wristbands, who are both UK based and abroad, and at inexpensive prices as well.

Using these methods to create something that is new and unique will provide your wristband with an image that will linger on long after the wearer has left. with rubber wristbands you can give the world an idea that lasts and whose message is not easily forgotten.

Mrs Anke

ne steadfast rule in the House of Anke is that We do not Celebrate Valentine’s Day. this isn’t my idea; even if I agree that Valentine’s Day is a bit naff, I’m always up for something which involves giving and receiving. but mr Anke is resolute – a) it’s the day after his birthday and would take the attention away from him, and b) “I don’t need a special day to show you I love you; I love you every day”. Harumph.

Freaks Movie

A still from “Freaks” – second-worst date movie ever.

But if I was after an orthodox relationship, I should have known from the start that this one wouldn’t be it. Take our two first dates. for Date #1, we arranged to see Tod Browning’s 1932 baroque masterpiece Freaks, the second-worst first date movie ever (beaten into silver medal position by Dicky M, who took a date to see The bad Lieutenant – “no, we never made it to a second date”). for Date #2, I was romantically whisked off to the Wimpey in Margate. not great, but mind you, a vast improvement on the time when I got so drunk on a date that en route to the Ladies’, I decided to sneak out of the restaurant and go home, leaving the poor bloke alone and waiting. I never heard from him again after that.

So now I’m going to hand you over to Rebecca, who is a little bit more adept at the dating game than me, to share some of her knowledge. She knows her onions because she’s the woman behind Peagreen Introductions, a discrete and classy dating service, so if you’re after a quick bunk-up, please do not give her a call. if mr Anke hadn’t charmed me with that Wimpey Burger, I know I would.

Peagreen Introductions

Rebecca Sell looking lovely. stop trying to look down the photo!

Rebecca’s Dos and Don’ts

Do make an effort with your appearance. if you feel good about yourself, your confidence will shine. So, clean those nooks and crannies (ok, I might have changed her wording a bit here), shine your shoes (no trainers!), brush the jacket, and dress appropriately for the venue and the occasion. (Guardian 2009: 1 in 4 don’t brush their teeth before a date).

Don’t forget to RELAX and enjoy yourself! Now, you may decide fairly quickly that there possibly isn’t a blossoming romance, but have you found a new friend? You never know who they know! So have fun!

Do flirt! a little flirting is good for the soul! Keep flattery sincere however, and remember the trick that lowering your voice will bring your date closer as they try to hear you! (Although I just tried this on mr Anke and he told me to stop mumbling)

Don’t take calls, surf the internet or text whilst on your date. give your date your full attention so this means no wandering eyes around the room at other potential dates too!

Do surround yourself with people who will be supportive of your dating. Don’t let people who are negative about love and relationships sabotage your hard work and fun.

Don’t tell someone you want to see them again when you don’t. Be honest. Lying and stringing someone along because you are scared of telling them the truth is selfish and hurtful. Be polite and thoughtful, but clear in your message. (In response to “can I see you again?” a friend of mine drawled back “probably, unless you develop cataracts or something” which I thought was a fine response)

Do watch your body language. Hands can send a powerful message so no fidgeting (finger tapping, or leg/foot tapping) and remember that an open palm is inviting but a clenched fist is a no-no. (nose picking and the scratching of genitalia aren’t generally good either. in public anyway)

Don’t do all the talking. Keep an eye on the balance and if you feel you are hogging the conversation, ask your date about themselves. show an interest in what they say but don’t interrupt too much. let the conversation flow!

Don’t rely on dating for your entire social life! Keep each date in perspective. Ensure that you pursue your own interests, see your friends and make new ones. each date is a chance to make a new friend and should not be perceived as the one key to your entire future happiness!

Do prepare yourself for dating. a more confident and relaxed person is going to enjoy dating more and be more attractive. So think about your frame of mind – what can you do to feel better about yourself? Get a haircut or manicure? New shoes or jacket? Go to the gym? Start a new hobby?

So what’s stopping you? Pour the wine, start the music…it’s tiiiiime to get reeeaaaady for loooooooove….

Sony Walkman Z review: Does audio quality still matter?

CNET’s Donald Bell wraps up his review of the Sony Walkman Z, a portable media player with an emphasis on audio quality.

Sony's Android-based Walkman Z portable media player

(Credit:Josh Miller)

One of the quickest ways to make me nostalgic is to talk about the pre-iPhone days–the days when MP3 players still mattered.

While today’s biggest forum battles all seem to revolve aroundAndroid versus iOS, there was a time when the mere mention ofiPod earbuds would send us all into frothy fits of anger. everyone, it seemed, cared deeply about the audio quality of a preferred MP3 player and would evangelize the merits of the latest iPod-killers from Sony, Cowon, Creative, and SanDisk.

Those were fun days. As a self-described audio geek, I took comfort in the thought that so many people cared so passionately about their music experience.

But then, like two alien mother ships dropping from the sky, the arrival of theiPhone and the iPad dwarfed these audio quarrels and offered dissenting and opinionated geeks a far more worthy subject to rally around. amid this frenzy of iClouds, Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Kindle Fires, concerns over music playback and audio quality often feel as antiquated as discussions of the VCR.

But for those music lovers who have felt lost in this era of OS-fixation, Sony’s Walkman Z ($249) is an Android-based portable media player that elevates the audio experience above all other concerns.

I spent the better part of last week using the Walkman Z and I can say without a doubt that it sounds fantastic. Sony’s suite of audio enhancement settings, along with the included pair of high-quality in-ear headphones, provide musical bliss right out of the box.

Unfortunately, the audio experience is about the only feature that Sony hits out of the park. even the basic stuff I’ve come to expect from iPod Touch competitors–such as memory expansion, broad audio and video format support, cameras, and USB charging–is all absent.

For Android fanatics, all I really have to say is: Gingerbread. Sony may provide an Ice Cream Sandwich update in the not-too-distant future, but right now, you’re stuck buying a 2011 OS on a 2012 device.

Still, there’s a lot to love about the Walkman Z, and I feel that Sony executed the idea of an Android PMP better than Samsung did with the Galaxy Player 4 and 5 (I’m still reading through the hate mail on those reviews).

EA: Releasing Reckoning after Skyrim is an opportunity

Record-breaking RPG Skyrim has paved the way for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, says EA.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was a smash hit for Bethesda after going on sale last November, shipping well over 10m units, topping the Christmas sales chart and breaking records on download platform Steam.

As EA releases Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning today (Friday, February 10th), the publisher is confident it can follow Bethesda’s triumph with an RPG hit of its own.

“Releasing after Skyrim can be a challenge, but it can also be an opportunity, as there are a lot more consumers out there who have just had their first experience of a really core RPG,” EA’s senior product manager Kevin Flynn told MCV.

“Reckoning delivers the size of the world, the inventory management and the depth that audience love, but the visceral combat and the approach 38 Studios have taken with that means that this is perhaps a little more accessible.”

EA also believes the backing of ‘top tier talent’ can help make Reckoning a success. This includes a storyline penned by best-selling fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, plus design work from The Elder Scrolls veteran developer Ken Rolston and comic book artist Todd McFarlane.

“Reckoning is being led by true quality which is reflected in the final product,” added Flynn.

The publisher says it will promote the game digitally, in-store, in core gaming print publications and online.
